Back then, Kei-san from "Run boys! Run girls!" invited me to set up a booth at "ULTRA GEAR MARKET in ISETAN." I thought to myself, since we're setting up shop at Isetan, I want to create something truly special. That spark is what led to the creation of the Hashiru Renshuu Cult Merino L/S Dry Shirt. I wanted a long-sleeve tee with a slightly longer length to cover the crotch, giving shy boys and shy girls total peace of mind. If we were going to do it, it had to be merino—but it needed to stay dry. Full thumb-holes felt like too much, but I still wanted minimalist thumb loops for those colder days. The neckline shouldn't be too wide, keeping a sharp, clean pattern even when worn on its own... This piece is the culmination of all those specific, uncompromising desires. I asked a crew who also handles production for a certain luxury maison to create the samples. Field-testing it by running the 109.6-kilometer journey all the way from Hakone back to Tokyo is still one of my favorite memories.
